About Me

Chema Galvez profile picture

I’m a BI and Analytics Engineer with background in economics and public policy. I replace manual reporting with scalable, version-controlled data models. My work has a special focus in applying software engineering principles to SQL workflows in order to build robust ETL pipelines and automated datasets.

While I can design and ship front-end dashboards, my focus is on the ETL/ELT infrastructure and Python pipelines that power them.

Here are a few technologies I've been working with recently:
  • Python
  • SQL Server (SSMS)
  • Github Actions
  • Tableau &. Power BI
  • FastAPI
  • VisualCron

Projects

Experience

Business Intelligence Intern
Jun 2025 - Aug 2025

Built data infrastructure and operational analytics tools to improve IT service tracking at a social services nonprofit.

  • Engineered a nightly ETL pipeline in Python/PowerShell integrating MySQL and SQL Server backends, processing 15,000+ records with automated scheduling via VisualCron and implementing try/except error handling for zero data loss.
  • Designed and delivered a Tableau dashboard surfacing SLA compliance, resolution time, and backlog trends to C-suite leadership, identifying a structural routing gap that had excluded an entire team from ticket attribution.
  • Partnered with IT leadership to redesign the service desk intake process through stakeholder interviews and iterative prototyping, reducing misreported ticket resolution time from 7+ days to the 36-hour SLA target.
Financial Project Manager
Siemens AG · Mexico City, Mexico
May 2022 - July 2024

Delivered Power BI analytics and financial planning across 30+ energy distribution projects at a global technology company, improving reporting efficiency and gross margin performance.

  • Developed two stakeholder-facing Power BI dashboards with DAX measures and data modeling for the Finance team, enabling real-time decision-making and reducing weekly reporting time by 5+ hours.
  • Built and maintained automated Power BI dataflows using PowerQuery to ingest, transform, and load weekly financial data, engineering validation safeguards around inconsistently formatted upstream sources.
  • Directed financial planning and forecasting across 30+ energy distribution projects, conducting business analysis in Excel and SAP that drove a 7% Gross Margin improvement.
Economics Intern
May 2021 – July 2021

Led geospatial research to identify EV infrastructure gaps across 217 municipalities, producing the State of Puebla’s official 2022 EV Charger Deployment Plan.

  • Analyzed vehicle registration, traffic, and tourism datasets across 217 municipalities to map EV infrastructure gaps and publish actionable deployment recommendations.
  • Coordinated with government agencies and private sector partners to translate analytical findings into funded policy recommendations, achieving a 50% increase in EV charger installations statewide.
